The Epilepsy Therapy Project, an initiative of the Epilepsy Foundation, is inviting entries that represent the most innovative new ideas in epilepsy treatment and care for its second annual Shark Tank Competition. The winner of the 2013 Shark Tank Competition will receive national recognition and a cash award to support the development and commercialization of an important new product, technology or therapeutic concept to help people with epilepsy.

Your Idea Could Net You a $100,000 Award to Accelerate Its Development!

Applicants will submit a concept letter by February 1, 2013 - a description of the specifications can be reviewed here. The top four or five proposals will present their product concepts or candidates at the AEDD XII Conference, scheduled from May 15-17. The winning entry will be selected by a panel of judges representing physicians and scientists, corporate executives, leading industry investors, people with epilepsy and their family members. The project deemed to be the most innovative will be announced at the conference, and the winner will receive a $100,000 grant to accelerate the idea towards improving the quality of life of people with epilepsy. All finalists are eligible for a travel stipend to attend the conference and free conference registration.

Antiepileptic Drug and Device Trials XII Conference

May 15-17, 2013

PROGRAM GOALS

This is the twelfth conference focusing on issues related to antiepileptic drug (AED) development from preclinical discoveries through clinical evaluations. New innovations in therapy are under siege from several directions, including complex regulatory requirements, increased payer expectations, and issues in data quality. Yet, we are still in need of novel therapies for patients with epilepsy. At each AED conference, we re-evaluate strategies to ensure continued advancement. There is always the opportunity to learn from the past as we move into the future. This symposium will bring together representatives from academia, industry, the NIH, and the FDA to review what has been learned and to discuss strategies to enhance AED development.
