No Date Required to Have Fun
This Valentine's Day!

Chances are the last time you stayed at a hostel you met a bunch of cool people. You may even still be in touch with some of them. But did you know that countless relationships and even marriages are linked to a first meeting in a hostel? In fact, HI-USA has been collecting these stories of hostels bringing people together.

So if you're single this February, take a long weekend to a hostel in your backyard or a new town, and you're guaranteed to meet someone new. And who knows, this time next year you could be booking a private room instead!

Visit hiusa.org to discover all the HI-USA hostels.

Give Back and Travel Free!

Time is running out to take advantage of the Great Hostel Give Back program, which awards a free night for groups of 10 or more who volunteer two hours a day during their stay throughout January and February. It's a great way to give back, while seeing a new town and enjoying the hostelling experience with some of your friends or colleagues!

14 hostels are participating nationwide, and there are already more than 200 individuals taking part. This promotion is in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. 40 Days of Peace, a national initiative to build more peaceful communities. For more information, visit www.hiusa.org/service or contact Amanda Dwyer at amanda.dwyer@hiusa.org. Hostel stays are subject to availability.

Alternative Spring Breaks
at HI-Boston

Boston is known for its colleges and universities and has an estimated 350,000 students in the city and surrounding areas. Come March, many of these students escape the city for warmer locations during their much anticipated spring breaks. However, there is also an influx of students who venture to Boston to participate in service learning projects and experience the excitement and history of this iconic town.

In response to this growing interest in voluntourism, HI-Boston has developed a service learning program called VolunTOUR Boston. While Alternative Spring Break (ASB) might come to mind first, HI-Boston assists groups with community service placements throughout the year.

Staff provides groups with information about the hostel and room availability, as well as with itinerary planning and assistance with activities, meals, and even transportation. With more than 20,000 nonprofits in the area, there is no shortage of options, and the HI-Boston team will help customize an experience that meets the needs of your group.

If you are interested in combining a trip to Boston, home of America's Revolution with a service learning project contact Rick Young in Group Sales at groups.boston@hiusa.org or Paul Kuhne, Community Engagement Manager at community.boston@hiusa.org
