I went the all-inclusive route on a spring break trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic a few years ago, and it was exactly what I had signed up for: combing pool decks for open lounge chairs, sipping watered-down drinks and partying with the rowdy crowds on the beach.
Don’t get me wrong – plenty of fun in the sun was had. But this spring, I’m looking for something a bit more…fresh. And so are a lot of you, it seems.
We’ve rounded up some of our favorite spring break destinations that might not be at the top of everyone’s travel list, but they should be. Whether you’re bringing the kiddos along, dreaming of a European escape, hunting for the world’s best beaches or if you’re in the national park state of mind, we’ve got you covered like SPF 50.
The best part? You won’t have to sacrifice your tan.
